Originally from Saskatoon, I graduated with honours from the University of Saskatchewan after earning a Bachelor’s in Political Science. I followed my passion for law, policy, and access to justice to the U of S law school, where I volunteered at a pro bono legal clinic, providing legal services to those who could not afford traditional legal representation. I went on to direct the Saskatchewan chapter of Pro Bono Students Canada, a nationally recognized program that places law student volunteers in a variety of different legal projects to address the ongoing access to justice crisis in Canada.
I am a strong advocate who enjoys working in complicated or novel areas of the law; I am always up for a challenge.
I maintain a general litigation practice, with a focus on family property division, civil matters, wills and estates, and debtor-creditor enforcement proceedings, but I also practice in the area of business law, such as incorporations, contract drafting and review.
While I have appeared in both the Supreme Court and Provincial Court of British Columbia, I understand that often, the best all-round resolutions are reached outside of a court setting. My expertise includes reaching out-of-court settlements, both in the negotiation and preparation of cohabitation, separation and settlement agreements, and in the participation in alternative dispute resolution such as mediation.
My practice is client-centered: I help my clients navigate what can often feel like an overwhelming process. Whether negotiating a contract or agreement, or proceeding with litigation, I will make sure that your interests are represented, and that you have a strong voice in the process.
After spending a lot of time on Vancouver Island over the past years, one particularly cold Saskatchewan winter helped me decide that it was time to move out west permanently to practice law in Victoria. I spend my spare time exploring my new island home with my partner, and my black lab, Finn. I appreciate suggestions on new hiking trails, restaurants, and craft breweries.
